I’m registered and ready to go, but how exactly did President Obama’s social folks send me an alert like this? Is our notifications tab open for advertisements now? I’m not annoyed, just curious.
Note: If you’re a frothing-at-the-mouth Facebook hater, please keep it to yourself. I get it. I’m actually a big fan, and just curious if this is a change or just a feature I didn’t know about.
Update: “Link” on App.net might’ve nailed it—this could be the new promoted posts thing for Facebook Pages, or the $7 promoted posts thing for individual accounts. Interesting.
Update 2: Since I added the Obama 2012 Facebook app, it could also be the fact that it has permission to notify me of things, as you can see in this screenshot. Thanks Guillermo Esteves!
