This is great for those times when you need to type something short in all-caps, but don’t want to activate the caps lock, or perhaps haven’t even enabled that feature (caps-lock is off by default in iPhone OS 2.0). I don’t know when this feature arrived, but it’s certainly helpful, and a great use of the iPhone’s multi-touch UI.
